Vinylon Fiber 100% Wet-Laid Nonwoven Fabric
VN-Type

The VN Type is a highly distinctive wet-laid nonwoven fabric composed entirely of vinylon fibers. It is produced by firmly bonding low-solubility vinylon fibers with high-solubility vinylon fibers. In addition to high tensile strength, it offers a wide range of excellent properties, including fold resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance—making it an indispensable material for industrial applications.

Vinylon fiber is also used as a concrete reinforcement agent and is known for its higher stiffness compared to polyolefins. At the same time, it is hydrophilic, highly heat-resistant, and exhibits minimal thermal shrinkage. Hirose Paper’s VN Type leverages these properties of vinylon fiber to produce a high-performance nonwoven paper, available in basis weights from 12 g/㎡ to 100 g/㎡ and thicknesses from 50 μm to 300 μm.
Application Examples

Battery Separator – Alkaline Manganese Primary Battery
This separator is resistant to strongly alkaline electrolytes. Furthermore, its high affinity with electrolytes allows it to retain more electrolyte, contributing to longer-lasting battery performance. With over 30 years of application history, it is highly reliable.

Speaker Cone
The fibers are rigid and stiff, enabling them to transmit vibrations effectively. By adjusting the thickness, the material can be applied to various sizes, from large to small speaker cones. Additionally, due to its high affinity with aqueous liquids, it can be easily dyed or colored.

Filter Substrates and Tape Backings
With excellent heat resistance, it can be used even in high-temperature environments. It also shows high compatibility with adhesives and strong fiber strength, providing high tensile strength as a sheet and maintaining its shape even under stress.
