“4-panel-comic”A Turning Point in Job Hunting
From the Front Line Where Roles Change to Fit the Person
Choosing a new job or changing careers is often described as “a major decision that can shape your entire life.” Many people have probably experienced the anxiety of repeatedly asking themselves: What kind of work suits me? Is this the right choice?—while searching for an answer with an uneasy heart.
Yet, once you actually step into the workplace, it often feels that what matters more than the initial choice is the kind of environment you find yourself in afterward. Few people know their perfect role or clear aptitude from the very beginning. In reality, those things tend to reveal themselves gradually, through experience.
At Hirose Paper, we value an approach that does not force people to fit predefined roles, but instead looks at each individual and shapes the work around them. In what situations does this person seem to perform at their best? What kind of tasks might they engage with positively? By observing how people work on the shop floor, we flexibly adjust roles and responsibilities. This requires a deliberate commitment to not forcing people into rigid molds.
When the environment changes, people change as well. And when an environment believes in someone and is willing to wait, that person can find the courage to take a step forward. Rather than being pushed strongly from behind, being quietly trusted with the words, “Why don’t you give it a try,” creates a sense of security. That sense of security expands a person’s potential at work.
What about your current workplace? Is it a place where you are made to bear the consequences of your choices alone? Or is it a place that allows trial and error? The way we work is not only a personal matter, but also a relationship between the individual and their environment. We hope this comic can serve as a small opportunity to reflect on that relationship.
