In 1954, our founder, the late Shinji Hirose, successfully developed Japan’s first functional paper (wet-laid nonwoven fabric) using synthetic fiber vinylon through joint research with the Polymer Chemistry Laboratory at Kyoto University. Building on this success, Hirose Paper Mfg. Co., Ltd. was established in 1958. Subsequently, we collaborated with battery manufacturers to develop separators for alkaline dry batteries, surpassing competitors in performance and quality and becoming a leading manufacturer in Japan. Since our founding, we have continually aimed for world-class technologies and today possess the world’s thinnest papermaking technology (2g/m², made entirely from polyolefin fibers). As a result, our products are highly acclaimed in overseas markets, and more than 65% of our sales come from international business, making us a truly global company.
Currently, we are also engaged in the development of cutting-edge nanofiber technologies. In 2007, we developed our own electrospinning nanofiber production equipment. We are striving for significant growth by applying this technology to next-generation lithium-ion secondary battery separators, high-performance air filters, medical fields, and other areas.

As an intermediate material manufacturer using petroleum-derived raw materials, we are committed to environmentally conscious product design and aim to create high-value-added products in collaboration with our customers. Our main products include battery separators, membrane filter supports, and insulation materials, contributing to a richer quality of life through our product offerings.
